2012 NBA Draft

As the road show comes to a close it is the time for the event that all of those who dream of becoming a player in the NBA dream of, it is NBA Draft time. Sixty college basketball players are going to be selected by NBA teams who have positioned themselves on the draft board. Until the NBA Draft occurs the media, players and fans occupy themselves with the Mock Draft. The 2013 Mock Draft has changed the position of players many times and will continue to do so even up until the day of the draft. (See www.nbadraft.net) Some teams have more than one player selection on the draft board, while other teams will trade even during the draft itself. There are those that say the mock draft is not cast in stone with the exception of the #1 Draft Pick. Although I have watched the NBA Draft on TV, experiencing the draft first hand is amazing. It feels like you have been placed on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The energy in the room is electric and the audience debates about the players chosen. What intrigued me most was watching the kids that were present. They knew so much about the players that were being selected and were spitting out players information like human encyclopedias. They chanted and cheered when their favorite player was selected. The entire night was like this until the very last player’s name was called out. It’s a great experience for all who attend.

We look forward to being at the 2012 NBA Draft tomorrow, but our season doesn’t end at the draft. If our recruits are not selected, we will move forward with other options for them that include being picked up by a team as a free agent (Post Draft Selection), Europe and overseas and the NBA Development League. We will discuss all of those possibilities in our next article.

Enjoy the draft! Godspeed to our recruits.
