It was great to see a Marshall LLC recruit get drafted, especially so early in the evening.   Attending the event was thrilling as well, the atmosphere was like an all out Block Party. Fans yelling and cheering for their favorite teams to make a good selection, then spitting out obscenities when they were not happy with the selection. It was unbelievable. I took my son to the draft and I must say that we enjoyed it immensely. My son likes to stay until the last person is drafted and the program given out at the draft allows you the convenience of writing the pick down.  My son with pen in hand wrote each pick down each player that was selected.  This year he brought a friend and the camaraderie was nice.  His friend said, “When you get drafted, I am going to be sitting with you in the lottery pick tables as a member of your family”.  As my son dreams of that being drafted into the NBA, his friends share his dreams.

Our work continues here at Marshall LLC to get our recruits to the next level.  Godspeed to all of the recruits and all of the families who watched them make their dreams reality.

2012 NBA Draft

As the road show comes to a close it is the time for the event that all of those who dream of becoming a player in the NBA dream of, it is NBA Draft time. Sixty college basketball players are going to be selected by NBA teams who have positioned themselves on the draft board. Until the NBA Draft occurs the media, players and fans occupy themselves with the Mock Draft. The 2013 Mock Draft has changed the position of players many times and will continue to do so even up until the day of the draft. (See www.nbadraft.net) Some teams have more than one player selection on the draft board, while other teams will trade even during the draft itself. There are those that say the mock draft is not cast in stone with the exception of the #1 Draft Pick. Although I have watched the NBA Draft on TV, experiencing the draft first hand is amazing. It feels like you have been placed on the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The energy in the room is electric and the audience debates about the players chosen. What intrigued me most was watching the kids that were present. They knew so much about the players that were being selected and were spitting out players information like human encyclopedias. They chanted and cheered when their favorite player was selected. The entire night was like this until the very last player’s name was called out. It’s a great experience for all who attend.

We look forward to being at the 2012 NBA Draft tomorrow, but our season doesn’t end at the draft. If our recruits are not selected, we will move forward with other options for them that include being picked up by a team as a free agent (Post Draft Selection), Europe and overseas and the NBA Development League. We will discuss all of those possibilities in our next article.

Enjoy the draft! Godspeed to our recruits.

NBA Draft Update: Recruits

The 2012 NBA Draft Combine is approaching and Marshall LLC is pleased to provide you with an update on our recruits. First let’s talk about the Combine itself. When you pronounce it the first syllable is accentuated as such: COMbine. This is a televised event that players come to by invitation only. The Combine consists of two to three days of the following: basketball drills and athletic and physical testing (like jumping tests, height and weight measurements, quickness and speed drills, shooting drills) and of course interviews with the media. Usually held in the Windy City, Chicago, IL, you can also usually find clips of each days events at the Combine on You tube. Considered the only real major gathering of NBA draft prospects with team and league executives, nearly every player who hopes to be selected in the NBA Draft is expected to be there. The tentative dates for this year’s Combine are June 6th, 7th and 8th.

Our hope and prayers are that all of our recruits will be invited to the event. Godspeed.

Basketball is coming back… to college at least

by K. Kozla

While football has been going strong (both in High School and College level as well as the NFL) basketball has been sitting on the sideline.  The NBA is still in a lock out that is keeping the stadiums in the dark at least until the end of November.  Thankfully basketball fans will have a season as College basketball is getting ready to spring forth.  The players are ready to do what they do best and the fans can’t wait to see them.

Marshall LLC is still working with and looking for players in all the field and we have eyes looking out there, but you should always keep looking because no one knows when greatness will first be seen.  No one knows when an amazing presence will first be felt.

Godspeed to the players and all of the presences about to make themselves known!
